Hi I have a bungalow that 25years ago + had minor subsidence in the garage. In fact the excess was 90% of the repair cost. How do I stand regards getting random quotes for the renewal as this was so long ago?
It pays to challenge

You should disclose the previous subsidence to any insurer whether they ask you or not. It sounds harsh bearing in mind how long ago it was but I would doubt it will affect the price/excess/cover in most cases. You may have to go through a slightly longer quote price due to referrals, etc but in the long run it would be ridiculous to be penalised for something 25+ yrs ago and I would argue the point if they did.
Unfortunately this is how insurance companies operate. Alway check there is some note of your disclosure on documentation sent to you to ensure that it doesn't come back to haunt you.0
