My son has bought a flat and there is a dish connected. The previous occupier subscribed to Sky. My son can't afford "sky". Can he buy a decoder box to watch the freeview stuff through the dish or will he need to take a year with "Sky" then stop paying?
If he does that will he be able to watch freeview?
Freeview boxes don't work in his area.
Any advice appreciated.

Yes he can buy a second hand box from ebay then get a card from sky(not sure of the price) to watch most of the freeview channels along with loads of shopping channels and the other unencrypted dirge sky fills out it's channels with. This is what we did when we inherited a dish when we moved last year. What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
The card costs £20 from HERE. See the 'Q&A' section - it explains that if you already have a dish and a digibox you can purchase the card on its own. This space has been intentionally left blank0
