Kitchen Appliance Insurance

In the past year Ive bought (though quidco) from Boots Kitchen Appliances - which were the best buy each time, a SMEG retro fridge freezer, a Cannon Range oven and now I am expecting delivery of an AEG washer dryer tomorrow.
On each occasion Boots service dept have rung and asked if I would like appliance insurance. Now, ignoring the fact that Id assume my appliances were covered by their manufacturers warranty for at least a year - are these insurances worth it?
Boots tell me that for a varying amount (they dropped the price if Id take all 3 on cover) adding up to £19 a month my 3 appliances would be covered for everything, including call out fees, labour, parts, even accidental and cosmetic damage to them. Not only that but when the poor old things are in their dotage and declared uneconomical to repair the appliance will be replaced with an equivalent "or better" model. "You never need buy a new appliance again"
Well, I told them to send me the paper work and in the meantime Ive had a very similar offer from Homeserve Insurance through the post (I have a drains cover with them). This offer is only £3.99 per appliance or 3 for £9.99 per month and the only difference I can see is that should the appliance be over 8 years old and uneconomical to repair you only get 50% of the cost of the new one (100% if under 8 years)
Anyone think these are a good/bad deal please. I cant get my head round it at the moment. It seems to me that the cheaper deal is best when you work out say 8 years of £120 per year extra for the Boots cover.

Sorry, don't know anything about insurance policies ... but someone over at the Whitegoods web site once said that they considered Domestic and General to be the best providers:

Might be worth getting a quote from them as well.I write blogs about kitchens ... and I design kitchens for a living ... I just love kitchens!0 -

Oh really !
Put the money in the Building Society and pay for any breakdowns out of that ! You appear to have bought good quality equipment - you won't get many.
These things are a waste of money IMHO !0
