    Today I:
    • Used a £10 voucher to pay for most of my groceries
    • Found meat at 50p off
    • Bogof on shower stuff at Boots, plus more points on my card
    • 'Free' coffee from loyalty card at Caffe Nero (I know I have to buy lots of coffee first, but the stamps gradually add up - it is my only real vice)
    • As I was on a roll I checked my bank statement very carefully and found that I had been paying twice for house insurance - am due a refund of at least £50 :j
If it wasn't for this site I would not have done half of this, certainly not the last one! I'm a convert. :T

  • Hi everyone!
    Today I have...
    -checked online banking
    -brought in breakfast and lunch
-not spent anything as I have no cash and no shops around here that take switch for snacks!
-(best of all) got an unexpected small payrise, £40 a month, so have merrily updated my spreadsheet!
  • I've had a "spend some-save some" day so far.

I took the motorhome for it's MOT this morning and while, surprise surprise, the test fee has gone up to £50.00, the old girl passed without any problems so that's a small weight of my mind.

The save part was managing to get a 0% balance transfer deal from the Halifax sorted this morning. I got the deal yesterday as a result of trying to get a loan from the Halifax. It wouldn't go through and the nice lady reckoned it was because of all the recent credit searches I've incurred lately due to opening new accounts and re-negotiating my motorhome loan. I think it was more out of sympathy at my plight, (that and the fact that I'm obviously coming across as a sad, pathetic loser  ), but without any prompting from me, she rang Halifax HQ and asked if they could do any deals. To my immense joy, they said yes and a very nice man rang me at home at 9.00 this morning, as promised, and now all my debt is on the lowest interest card I have AND is interest free 'till August :j I'm not sure how much interest I'm saving on £7600 at 20.9% APR but it all helps.

I'm glad the loan didn't go through because I've done the Snowball calculator and even with the motorhome loan extended for another year, I should be totally clear of debt by early 2010, as opposed to a loan which would have tied me up until 2012 and cost me about £3000 more in interest.

As a result of all this, I feel ten years younger at the moment. Mind you, I felt thirty years older when I woke up :rotfl:

    Martyn.
    LBM: 12.2.08.
Debt-free as of July '09 :j and determined not to go there, ever again

    • Hi everyone!
    • Day 6 of posting on this thread to show commitment.
    • Another 'no personal spends' day - sixth in a row.
    • I deliberately left my purse at home today as I found myself pondering that I'd quite like to buy a new denim skirt and couldn't trust myself.
    • I made my own lunch and took it to work.
    • Out of all my drinks at work, six glasses were plain water, and only two were made with (weak) diluted cordial.
    • I have checked internet banking - this was very lucky as there was a nasty surprise of a cheque for £16, which was written the first week in January for DS1 scout subs and has only just been cashed.
    • Updated spreadsheet accordingly - only left with £2.01 until DH gets paid on Friday!
    • As I didn't have any cash with me, and anything constructive to do at lunchtime I went up to Boots and had a 'liberal' spray of perfume from the tester bottles (a Mariah Carey one) and smelt lovely all afternoon!
    • Did 1 hour's overtime at work and discovered there is overtime coming out of my ears if I wish for it. (running total so far: £117 for April pay)
    • Received my club-card statement (we have 3 between us) and there are £3.50 in vouchers (£14 in deals) and 250 points off certain items that I will be able to use.
    Start Date: 27/11/2010
    Padding: Day 42
    Target £8000
    Amount: £562.23
  • I have or will
    - finish create a listing for ebay
    - pay some bills online
    - look around for cheapie buildings insurance and maybe go through quidco
    - using £1.50 for 20 white label nappies on baby, still has runs so no washables and not using pampers when he is keeping them on half an hour
    - not spent anything yet other than milk
    - got half day free childcare for baby while he is settling in, meant I could clean up in peace
    - its freezing here, so think thermals will come out tonight
    - ate some leftover stew from yesterday
  • Have came home to a batch of letters from Banks over my CCA requests so will be typing up responses for those to send tomorrow.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
