Hanging 21kg (471lb) cupboard on plasterboard

Hi, just wondering if anyone can help.
We bought a bathroom cabinet from IKEA and in the process of assembling it realised how heavy it is - 21kg or 41lbs.
The cupboard was to be hung on a plasterboard wall which we believe is just a partition wall between 2 rooms.
Does anyone know if a plasterboard wall can take that weight and if so, what fixtures would be best to secure the cupboard.
Thanks in advance
JC.

The wall must have vertical timber studs, usually at 16" intervals. You can get a electronic gizmo to locate the studs and screw into them.0

Wall does have studs - can see them - coming through the plasterboard (our love our new build house
but unfortunately, the cupboard doesnt' line up with where we can see them so wouldnt be able to screw them into that
Thanks for reply0 -
just plasterboard will not take the strain, we design new homes for the national housebuilders and we always specify an extra piece of ply on the walls for that reason
try to locate the studs within the wall and hang from thereNamed after my cat, picture coming shortly0 -
Plasterboard fixed properly will take the strain. The best fixings for such a cupboard would be spring toggle ones. They have usually a m6 or m8 bolt with a couple of butterfly wings, which close together while passing thro the fixing hole in the wall then spring open in the cavity. As you tighten the bolt the wings clasp the back of the plasterboard.
I have found them to work very well - especially for heavy cabinets like in the kitchen. Any good diy store sells them.0 -
post us a link to the picture of it on ikeas webby please0

Sorry - forgot the advice about the ply is a good one. It makes fixing to any plasterboard wall a lot easier. If you are able to plan that far ahead when at the construction stage ! Worked well for when it came to fixing my radiators in my self build.0

Here is a link to the cabinet on the IKEA site:

It is the larger size cupboard on the drop-down menu.0 -

Hope this works - i mean the link !0 -
I think we might be able to line up one side of the cupboard with the stud walls for more support but the other side would be screwed directly into the plasterboard.0
