Couples Multi Trip Insurance

Hi there, my boyfriend and I are looking to take out multi trip travel insurance and when looking at prices, I've noticed that its cheaper to take out a joint couples insurance. Does anyone have any experience of these? I was wondering if you are able to travel seperately on them, for example my boyfriend has a stag weekend to go to so will be travelling without me. Does it void the insurance in anyway as it will be a joint policy and only one of the named people will be on the trip? Ive tried looking up the terms and conditions and there is no mention of anything like this. Just wondered if anyone had come across this at all?
