does anyone know who does and doesnt take the bmi american express credit card. thanks

That's a very good question. When I read of the generous air miles offer, I jumped in and applied without noticing that the card was Amex, rather than the more usual Vias or Mastercharge.

From my experience of having an Amex business card, these things are usually as welcome as a dose of the plague and more than once I have ended up charging things to my personal Visa card.

Yes I just got the card in order to take advantage of the wonderful airmile deal. We shop at Tesco and I checked and they take the card. So you can buy weekly groceries and petrol at Tesco and fly for free

BMI MBNA CARD - complete rip off warning - I took out a mbna bmi card and signed up for diamond club . When I came book my two flights to Europe (Dusseldorf) I was dismayed to discover that the taxes charge for the flights was £200. A quick search of the internet revealed that the equivalent flights to Dusseldorf by BA including taxes was 123 pound, Air Berlin 92 pounds and Luftsana 132 pounds . So the two free flights actually would end up costing me more than the equivalent full fare flights on other airlines. Needless to say I will be cancelling my MBNA BMI credit card. And Martin if you are reading this it might be good to let other visitors know about this scam by BMI.

I got my card today and called up to check on the details to be informed that there was a £60 card fee which would be added to my bill.

I decided to cancel the card before going any further after considering that this added to flight issues and the fact that amex is selectively accepted made the card less worthy.

The web site actually says No annual fee (and has this on it since i applied) but calling them this evening to confirm they said this was a mistake and a £60 annual fee was charged and will be charged for this card even though the site still states that there is No annual fee.

No real explanation offered by the company even after the first operator i spoke to said i had clearly not read the information properly and missed the fact that there was this fee - there is no mention on the bmi opening page site of the £60 fee or in the terms and conditions.


As i stated above - i decided to cancel whilst i could.

Has anyone else found this fee added?

As an AMEX platinum business owner cardholder, I wouldn't suggest it. These people are not your friend! If I could slip the coils of this crushing water snake today I would!
