Every bank here should and will accept a German passport, never had a problem. In actual fact, Northern Rock even accepted my German ID card as my passport is currently being renewed. I would advise you to go to your local branch and take ID with you, you cannot open this bond wholly online anyway. You can print out the form and fill it in but then either have to send it off with ID or take it along to your local branch, and if you take your original ID along to your branch, you don't have the hassle of having to obtain certified copies from the embassy.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Whilst it's in Nationalisation the only it will go 'bust' is if the country and/or Bank of England go 'bust' (which will never happen
