Can anyone tell me if it's better to lease a new car, or buy one? The monthly payments are lower on the lease.

It totally depends on what your needs are, leasing cars are handy if you want to always have new cars (Upto 3 years old), without the hassle of buying and selling all the time and having the massive loss of money from new car depreciation. Leasing companys get massive discounts from manufacturers compared to a private buyer so they dont have to charge the earth to make up for this.
Genrally cheap small cars and very expensive cars are not worth leasing though its is mid-range priced cars where they tend to work out best or they are exellent for vans. So without knowing more about your needs its impossiable to be able to say wether leasing would be a good option for you or not.0 -
I am on my second lease car and like it.
The sums fall apart though if you normally keep a car (new) for more than 3 years.
To calculate whether you are getting a good deal dicide the non VAT monthly payments into the best price you can buy the car for. If the number is over 70 it is probably worth leasing. If it is getting close to 100 its a stonking deal.0 -
Thanks, that's interesting. The deal I've been offered gives about 68.5 on your score, so that's probably worth doing.0

I am definitely saving money on my Audi A3 - I found on the deal it was cheaper to lease over 24 months than 36, and the discounts through my particular leasing company were so far advanced over what I'd be able to negotiate with my local dealer, it made it much more cost efficient to lease than buy. Also I don't have to worry about selling the vehicle and can take a brand new vehicle at the end of 2 years.
If you are interested in an A3 look at this company www.gateway2lease.com. I think the deal is still going.
