Info on empty/abandoned property

Hey all

Just wondering if anyone knows where I could get info on an empty property. There's a house near me that has been empty for about 6yrs+ but has never been up for sale in that time. It does have a commercial property attached to it (looks like a converted garage) which has also been empty for a long time. My boyf and I both love this house and would love to buy it but we have no info on it.

I really don't know where to look...is there some kind of register of who owns what property...so any help would be gratefully recieved.

Thanks! :D

or do the right thing search the land registry http://www.landreg.gov.uk/ this will give the name and hopefully adress of the owner of the property, who may or may not be open to an offer. You have nothing to lose some of the best bargains can be found this way.

Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.
  • From memory there's a program on telly about finding out about empty properties. I think they said that some councils have an "empty properties officer" or similar who may know who the current owner is and they may contact them on your behalf.
  • Thanks for all the info everyone, I'll start doing a little investigation work :T
