Well today after much thought I have closed my Sainsburys account after it dipped to 5.75%. I have opened the B & B eSaver account at 6.4% and a B 7B E bond at 6.5%, but what fun and games I had, its taken me nearly 2 hours to sort it, yet I STILL have to send documents to prove my ID and residence, you'd think they would make things easier even though I have an ISA with them and an old passsbook account Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

They should have electronically done a ML check on you. They have access to the facilities and agents who can do it. There should be no need to bother you asking for bits of paper. Next time ask why they cant electronically check you. Remember every time you send id or bills in the post they can be stolen and your id nicked.
Also if BB have already MLed you in the past they should NOT have to ask you again.

Sounds like an organisation about to go down IMPO. If they can't do something simple like this, which other banks can do, how can you trust them when it comes to complex financial products? This is not financial nor legal nor property advice. Consult a paid professional if in doubt.0

I have just opened accounts with Icesave and B&B, the process was remarkably similar, identical in fact. When I finished the Icesave account it asked me to send address confirmation for my wife despite giving passport and driving licence details for both of us, this had to be sent to a freepost address in Nottingham with a 12 digit ref No thus ****-****-****
The B&B asked for the exact same thing to be sent to a freepost address in Nottingham with the same format 12 digit reference, even the follow up emails are identical with just the names and numbers changed. I wonder who is doing their account processing for them? everybody speaks in glowing terms of the Icesave site and application process, NR was better imo.
Better than A&L though, applied to them and have had nothing at all as yet after 24 hours+ the last page said to expect in email in a few minutes, must check they have the correct email address:o0
