No, the forms were usually downloaded and printed off, but the 5 free discs offer expired 31st January. You still get The Bourne Supremacy and 300 in the box. Anyone who bought from Amazon @ £119.99 after 19th January should be able to get £42.00 refunded back on their card, so for those people, they got an upscaling HD DVD player WITH 7 HD DVD Discs for £77.99-BARGAIN!!

  • Be warned!

Taken from the bbc news website.

Shares in Toshiba have gained more than 5% as speculation intensified that the electronics giant is set to scrap its high definition DVD format, HD DVD.

The firm said it was reviewing its business strategies, but added it had made no decision over HD DVD's future. The format has suffered from the defection of major US film studios to Sony-backed rival Blu-ray.

It is more than speculation they actually announced abandoning HD DVD this weekend with huge losses. As posted on the original thread just down the page v.

Got a confirmation just now that Amazon will be refunding the £42.00 difference, with a polite apology for inconvenience! Result!!
  • Yep Toshiba has dropped support for HD DVD and Universal studios has just announced that is going Blu Ray too. Paramount is the only studio left and it is 100% guranteed that they will join Blu Ray too. So basically no more films will be released on the format.

I think everyone who wants one because it looks like a deal should wait it out. Prices for HD DVD players are going to crash even lower than what they are now. You'll be able to pick these up for about £25 soon. Just check Ebay. People are going to try and get rid of the ones they own in droves.

This is dead technology, it's the Betamax of DVD, landfill in less than a year, waste of money.

    Sony Blu Ray won.
