keren, VERY quite on the work front, thank goddness for overtime in my "normal" job"!!! i really feel for you though being full time.
oh, i haven't made the mars bar cake in ages. used to make it back home in oz quite a bit for bbqs and things.
let us know how you get one. i am sure it will be lovely.0 -
Well, it is setting in the fridge. I put 3 of the rocher in the bottom of the big half of the container so they will be on top when I turn it out and added the rice crispie/mars bar mix. I tried to microwave a few more rocher but they weren't very receptive to being nuked - the nuts and cruncy bits I guess so I've squashed them and spread them over the base.
I've got about 8 left now so just enough to do a cheesecake base at the weekend
Becca- i've taken a part time job, AQA is too quiet and I feel I need my grain cells stretching. I start next month,18.5 hours, I'll top up the rest with AQA which should be busier by then"Stay Wonky":D

Mmmmmm mars bar cake... we used to make this at school for end of term parties (though we called them 'end-of-dorm' parties for reasons I could never fathom- I went to boarding school lol)
**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

Hi keren29...just read this thread and eagerly waiting to hear how the Ferrero Rocher/Mars Bar Cake came out...I adore chocolate with a passion but like you am just not very keen on FR chocs - more of a Galaxy girl myself. Whenever I get a box of FR I kind of guzzle them a bit grudgingly as they just don't hit the mark. I'm sure with adding a couple of Mars Bars they will be improved immensely.
You are sooo lucky to have got into AQA I've tried twice to get into AQA but can't seem to hit the mark with them...now if they gave me 12 questions on chocolate I'd be able to answer them in about 2 minutes each!!
Keep us posted on whether this recipe manages to hide the taste of FR's!0 -
Well, it was a tad difficult to get out of the container!! Mars bar/toffee/plastic etc........ahem........anyway, I ran it under hot water for 30 seconds or so and then used brute force in the shape of a teaspoon handle. It has just about come out in a heart shape, but what the hell, it will get eaten soon anyway!!! There are 3 FR's in the middle and some underneath so it shouldn't be too nutty.
I'll report back on how the cheesecake goes
Keep trying thinkpositive - apparently some get in on try 3 or 4."Stay Wonky":D

If you're not keen on the flavour perhaps you could add a small slug of something alcoholic to the cheesecake [I'm a big fan of the Lidl cream liquer equivalent of Baileys]

hi Keren29 thanks for the encouragement re AQA.
Did you manage to hide the taste of Ferrero Rocher within the cake?0 -

You could chop them up and fold them into vanilla ice cream to give a sort of praline ice cream which might be ok“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

The FR's were well hidden in the rice crispie/mars bar cake thing. There is still some left to munch on.
Aril - fantastic idea - I have some Carolans that has been sitting in the fridge since Christmas.
Bells - I love pimp that snack. I made the giant jaffa cake for one of my MSE friends and sent it to her through the post as a surprise. I'm going to try the giant wagon wheel one day (although I'll be keeping that for myself!)
The heart container is washed, dried and back on top of the remaining FR's. I thought - ooh, that would make a good jelly mold!"Stay Wonky":D
