Windows 2000 Pro. Help needed please.

Hi folks,

I recently bought a second hand laptop for the missus. It has been working fine till today when all of a sudden its asking for a password to let you in to windows. The missus swears blind she hasn't been messing around with the laptop but I don't know a way around it. It is showing user name: user, but I haven't got a clue how to defeat the password.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

have you tried the usual, just pressing enter, and password, and Password?

try changing the username to 'administrator' and leaving the password blank

another password that is used quite often is secret
