AA annual breakdown cover

Can anyone tell me if they've had any success in cancelling AA breakdown cover (paid annually) after the 14 day "cooling off" period? I no longer have my car but the AA insist that I am not entitled to claim my premium back because I am outwith the 14 days. How was I to know that I would not have my car less than two weeks after the 14 days?!! So I now have breakdown cover for a car I don't have!

The AA say my membership can be suspended for up to three years or I can sell the membership to someone else and get the details transferred over. Would it not be easier (and cheaper administratively) to just give me at least some of my money back? Any help much appreciated.

  • Just an update to previous post. After several calls to the AA's call centre, then to the call centre team leader, then to her manager, the AA have finally agreed to a full refund! We're supposed to get our money back within 21 days, so watch this space!
