Lloyds account - no upgrades offered

The county which I live in has got two Lloyds branches, one for business and other
commercial. I had opened an account in the business branch almost a year ago.
They offered me their very basic account. I am a student by the way.
After a year I asked for an upgrade they said their system doesnt allow it. I have been
asking them for two months now, still nothing. Whereas some of my friends who
opened a year ago in the lloyds commercial branch have already been given upgrades
to their account within 6 months.
I am thinking if I close my lloyds account in the business branch and open another
one in the commercial branch, will it be ok / possible . Will it do me any good.

It will make no difference.
You say that you are a student - do you have a student account elsewhere?
How much do you pay into the account monthly?
If you were only offered a basic account to begin with I would suggest forking out £2 to get copies of your credit files. There may be adverse information on there.
Mobile phone companies spring to mind - have you had any problems with a mobile phone company?0 -
I do monthly pay into account around £500 -600.
I have already checked my credit files , nothing adverse on all the 3 credit
agencies. I do have other upgraded account with another bank which they
did without any problem.0 -
It might be that £500-£600 is not enough to warrant an upgrade. It used to be that a minimum of £1k was needed to upgrade.
You haven't answered whether you hold a student account elsewhere.0
