There's a mouse, maybe even mice, in my rented accommodation...

I'm going to speak to the landlord later and am going to ask for him to call in exterminators.0

I would hate to have mice (dead or alive) and two months I think is more than enough time for your landlord to sort them out. What action has he or have you already taken?
There is a procedure for using rent to pay for repairs etc so I'm not sure if this would come under it and you should be deducting the cost of the exterminator or whatever solution you need after getting appropriate quotes.
I don't see that you should have to sort this out even if it is a small cost for a mousetrap. Personally my bigger issue would be disposing of the bodies but I'm a bit of a wuss about that.0 -
By the way Mattchew, never, ever, ever withold rent! If you ever have problems or need to take your LL / EA to court, you wont have a leg to stand on.0

I know but I've never used a mouse trap and imagine the 'snap' ones must 'spread' the mouse around a bit too...? Making me feel squeamish just thinking about it.
BTW I'd not have a problem holding a tame live one as I used to have gerbils.
I usually 'subcontract' getting rid of spiders too unless they can go up the hoover (*keeps head down for inevitable flack about this*) and I'm guessing thats not a good tactic with mouse body! :rolleyes:0 -

I saw a mouse in my bedroom (in a flat). I think it came in during that cold spell. Also some months ago heard scratching in my s/board.
I am trying to post advice but am still on a learning curve.
I bought a reppeller Electromagnetic and Ultrasound. That way it gets into the walls , skirting board where they live. It took a few days but now no sign. But who knows.
It will send the mice down to your landlords flat:D . "my" mouse went to my downstairs neighbour.
To check their entry points: I covered the hole with a single sheet of paper. You will hear it crack or see they have been thro. They are nocturnal (4 or 5 am in my case)
I have now blocked hole with steel wool. I presume and hope that they can find an external exit and arent trapped in my walls. You can buy special tracing powder to follow their paths in the house, usually close to walls.
Wouldnt recomend poison, It bleeds them to death slowly and their body will smell somewhat in your walls .
Suggest buy the repeller , Electromagnetic and Ultrasound. It will work in a whole flat ,or a house used as one dwelling ,it wont work in other flats , you will need one for each flat (because of the sep electric wiring)
It has been suggested to me to keep it on permanently or a long time, else they will return. They like living in cupboards , the repeller doesnt go thro solid objects in the cupboard / room , but will work in walls , floor etc.(the one I bought sends repellent noises along the electric wires)
HTH
Anyone got any advice/experience for me let me know.

I had a mouse in my 1st floor flat a few years back, really freaked me out, but these things happen. I don't think you can ever guarantee you won't see a mouse. Am pretty sure it came in (easily) through the front door of the main building, then up via insides of stairs, walls and finally airing cupboard. I could see it then went for my bin bag, which I stupidly left on the kitchen floor. I am now much more careful - you live and learn.
I laid basic traps in sensible places, inside cupboard etc, and caught it immediately. Then I just left traps set for my own piece of mind, but never caught another one. BTW I used jam on the traps...0
