Slightly strange transaction...

AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!

Sorry, had to scream a little first

Sold a Beatrix Potter figurine on eBay to an eBayer in West Calder, Scotland, on 28/1/2008, posted via Recorded Delivery First Class post on 29/1/2008, received positive feedback from buyer on 1/2/2008 indicating that item had arrived and she was pleased with it. Positive feedback left by me in return, end of transaction.

You reckon?

Last night (18/2/2008) I receive a message from the buyer asking where her figurine is...Well this instantly perplexed me as she'd left positive feedback for it at the beginning of the month...Wondered if she'd either a) received my item and meant her query for another seller, or b) not received my item but left feedback for it thinking it was a different seller. Check her buying history for the past 30 days - three figurines purchased/won, three figurines left feedback for.

Finally managed to dig out recorded delivery tracking item for this number. According to Royal Mail's website they tried to deliver the item on 1/2/2008 at 7.25am but no one was in so it was taken back to the sorting office in Livingston (about 6 miles from West Calder) to await collection, where according to the website it still is...

I have passed all this information on to the buyer and given her the tracking number (again!) I always issue buyers with their tracking number when dispatching items posted by recorded or special delivery) I have also asked her to check at her local post office/sorting office.

No word back yet.

Some thoughts/queries:

1) I thought after 7 days, any recorded delivery items not collected from the post office were returned to the sender providing the return address is present - which mine definitely is, as we are always careful to make sure this is clearly visible on all parcels we dispatch. I've checked at my post office and it's not been returned to me there - if the parcel does leave the post office either in the hands of the buyer or to be returned to me, will this eventually be recorded on Royal Mail's website?

2) Where do I stand in all this? I've got the tracking number, an attempt has been made by Royal Mail to deliver it. If the item cannot be found, then presumably I have to claim with Royal Mail? But when I've claimed for an eBay item lost in the post before I have always included a copy of the completed auction page to back up my financial claim for the item - If Royal Mail happened to check this page on-line they will now see that positive feedback has been left for it, which makes either me, or the buyer (or both) look like we're trying to pull a fast one!

I'm sure the answer is a simple one, but with this and a couple of other eBay hassles at the moment I'm really becoming quite disillusioned with eBay, and by the looks of things I'm not the only one! :D

Any comments/advice gratefully received, thank you :)

Ebay feedback isn't legally binding, don't worry :) Paypal don't care about it, and neither will RM :D

For recorded they hold it for 3 weeks.
It's SD that they return after 7 days.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

hang on, are you sure shes not getting muddled.

    Shes left you feedback positively.

Maybe she is a massive buyer and collector and is buying figurines all the time and is confused what she has recieved and what she hasnt.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
