Sorry to hear about your misfortune.
Afraid Fran is right that the roadworthiness of your car is your responsibility.
Now for the good news.Forget about getting these parts through a main dealer.

Go to your local breakers garage and get a wheel with a tyre for around £20-£30.Try Yellow Pages under "Car and Commercial Vehicle Dismantlers" and ring a few to get
the best prices for your bumper. If you are lucky you might even find one the same
    colour as your present Vauxhall.
You will still have to get them fitted of course but especaolly if you can get the right bumper colour, that would save a lot of the labour charges.

For the steering rod, try this company; Southern Motor Factors on 0208 462 6372, they are located in Bromley, Kent(next to the Bus Garage) on the phone they will quote you retail price but go in person and they give trade price.

    Hope this helps

    thx for the advice lads...

the prob is the car is already at vauxhll's... I am sure that getting it moved to another garage would cost me something in the like sof 200 pounds. which is what i would save about on labour by switching to a local garage.

I have made some calculations and it depend son how much my insurer values my car at but I will have to fnally pay between 275 and 350 pounds for getting my car back (after buying it back and loss of premium due to claim and excess and repairs by vauxhall), so i may as well do it

i am not blaming vauxhall for the accident, it is true i should have checked my spare, but as Marky duefully pointed out they should have done it too. Even the guy from vauxhall to whom i gave the keys ithe following morning reckoned they should have done so.

oh and BTW, no the tyre that blew was not the spare but a normal one

and the car was serviced in June by the same vauxhall garage she is at.
