Most cost effective way to insure 2 cars

Hello can anyone tell me how to insure 2 cars. I have had a driving L for 10 years but my OH has just bought a car, 1.8 and is 29, he is taking his test in the car, when he has car insurance of course! So do I get both cars insured in my name, which means he does not build up his no claims bonus, because he does not have the car insured in his name, or do I get it insured in his name? He has been quoted £900 (Fully Comp) so this is way out of our buget, if anyone could help I would be grateful.

Insured and Partner and Insured and Spouse policies are not viewed in the same way as named driver policies in regards to fronting.

I would expect the cheaper way to do this is put it in your name with your partner as the main driver, whilst he does not build up any no claims bonus it is likely to be cheaper with you as the policy holder.

If you have 2 cars in the household and 2 sets of no claims bonus then it is irrelevant whose name the bonus is in! Some insurers will allow you to give ncd to spouse/partner if you keep the pol with the same insurer, you could do this a few years down the line once his experience has built up. The only problem may occur if you split up (not exactly looking on the positive side of things I know).

    hope this helps
