Salter (Weighing Scales)

Last year my Dad asked me what I wanted for my birthday - I'd been after some perfectly flat kitchen scales so I could slide them in my bookshelf rather than having to find cupboard space for them.
I'd seen the Salter one's, but they were £40, and I knew that my Dad (aged 80) would never be able to afford them, so I looked in Argos and found some which weren't totally flat, but rather than making Dad feel bad about not being able to afford the one's I really wanted, I asked for the cheap one's.
He said 'No, no, no, no, no - they're cr*p' Let me have a look around.
Well that weekend he went carbooting, and at the end of the day he saw some Salter scales, still in the box on one of the stalls, and asked to buy them as the chap was loading the stuff back into his car.
The seller said that he'd sold them earlier in the day, but someone had brought them back because they didn't work, and he was going to put them in the bin.
Well my Dad's an engineer, so asked for them so he could have a tinker, and was given them for free.
He got them home, and couldn't get them to work
On the box, it said that they had a ten year guarantee. Of course we didn't have the receipt, and really he shouldn't have been tinkering either, but I contacted them asking whether as they clearly weren't selling this model ten years ago, whether they would be able to repair them.
They asked me to send them to them, and I did. I didn't hear any more, and had a charity cake bake I could have done with them for that, so emailed them again.
They were soo soo good - they had already sent me a new set in the post (which I never received) but said that either I could choose any out of their range on the internet to send out immediately, or I could wait an extra day for the one's that I wanted!!
They offered me a choice from scales which were much more expensive, but as I had a particular reason why I wanted the flat ones, I waited for them.
They came very quickly, and I was totally amazed at their overall service.
Top Marks Salter!!! - and this Birthday Girl was very happy!!!
