Refund from NatWest - a BIG thank you!!

Hi all, after finding a letter on this forum and contacting my bank, I heard yesterday that I have been refunded over £300 in bank charges! Unfortunately I can't find the original post but the letter was to the effect of:
"It is my personal belief that such a charge represents a penalty and does not represent a true pre-estimate of loss, which any charges levied under a contract, should be. I do not believe the penalty charges you have levied represent the cost to yourselves of the overdraft. I would therefore be grateful if you would review the account and remove the unfair penalty charge from it."
These charges were as a result of an unused account being charged month on month for a 5 day o/d (created by a bank levied charge) at the beginning of the year for which I only received my six month statement at the beginning of July.
To the poster who submitted the template - a huge 'thank you', you've saved me a lot of money!!

Fantastic news. Well done. If only Abbey did the same when I wrote to them - they could have saved themselves a lot of time and trouble.0

Well done Sue!
I've been debating about whether to do the same thing with regard to £50 of charges from A&L. I had thought that the only way to get the charges refunded was by filing the court papers.0 -
It's from the great letters that work thread on the Vent Board. Try this link

Right, I've written my letter to A&L, and I'm going to send it recorded delivery so I know it's got there, and I'll let you know what happens.0
