strange invitations after egg letter

in Credit cards
hi, i was one of the egg letter receivers. dd every month for the minimum etc. i have a few cards about 5.000 spread amongst them. i can manage my debt, no missed payments etc. have been at same address in same circumstances for yonks!
i am always receiving invitations in post for other cards, the normal stuff, everyone from mbna to halifax, barclaycard etc. now ,heres the strange bit, in the egg letter they state that stopping my agreement will not affect my credit profile. well, all of a sudden i am beginning to get invitations from card co's like this morning one arrived from halifax, specifically for people like me who would like to repair their credit profile,or perhaps i have never had credit before and would like to take the first steps to improve my credit rating!
a few weeks back i had an invitation from ge money to apply for a loan to consolidate my cards, tailored just for people like me who pay the minimum!
i have good credit profile, have done for years! there is definitely something going on in the background!
any one else had any similar exp? any info would be appreciated!

I wouldn't worry about it and put it down to coincidence. I've occasionally received mailshots from Vanquis implying my credit rating was shot, when I knew it wasn't.
You've probably had them before in the past but not actually read them. But since you've had The Letter[tm] from Egg, you're now reading/paying attention to them.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

Yer wouldnt worry about it. Most of these mailings are a stab in the dark to see if they reach someone who meets their criteria!
Enjoy your great record and treat the letters as a fact that your rating is good they would soon stop if you were bankrupt!0 -

Yup, they're definitely just fishing.
But 5,000 over cards - all at 0%? Or any "keep" cards like Egg Money?"A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
Your neighbourhood's ACORN classification may explain why you get a particular kind of offer...

I get hardly any junk mail at all.
I'm registered with MPS.
I'm opted out of Royal Mail door-to-door.
I am pretty cautious about giving out my details and always tick/untick the relevant boxes about getting more info or info from 3rd parties.
I would say that about 50% of days we get no post at all.0 -
Ohhh dear. Looks like I may be getting more mailshots from Vanquis since I've movedYorkshireBoy wrote: »Your neighbourhood's ACORN classification may explain why you get a particular kind of offer...

Totally the opposite of what I am:
Family income Low
Interest in current affairs Medium
Housing - with mortgage Low
Educated - to degree Medium
Couples with children Very low
Have satellite TV Low

ACORN is my company's leading product.. it's a neighbourhood classification not an individual one.. it's also not always right, although we update it from 2006 data a lot of the core data is 2001 Census based.
According to ACORN I'm a blue collar, older, family man with non dependant kids. Most of my neighbours are.. I'm single, white collar with enough to afford a family house... it's not perfect system, but it's good enough for business use.
Experian have a similar classification based on your credit card data (as do equifax).0 -
I never meant to imply otherwiseit's a neighbourhood classification not an individual one..
Rarely right if the 5 postcodes dotted around the country I have personal experience in is anything to go byit's also not always right,
I could have been unlucky though.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
