Capital one card

I've only recently got a credit card never ever had one before, so my limit has only just gone up to £500 a month, i assume that this is not the cashback card because i've only just got it, but is this still better than using my alliance and leicester current account card? , i pay my credit card of monthly

  • There's no real benefit over using your bank card, other than the fact it'll help build your credit history.

  • You'd be better off using your bank card to be honest, and only making small purchases on the card each month. Doing that will save you in interest and give a clean payment history to the credit reference agencies, which you can then use to get the better 0%/cashback cards.

If anything, just lock the card in a draw somewhere to stop you spending masses on it on impulse, and maybe whip it out to order a takeaway pizza once a month or something.

    See numerous posts re stoozing.
You do not pay for items purchased until your statement and if you save that money you make a profit. Buying with a credit card offers you valuable protection and some cards give free warranty for the items purchased. I would suggest, you set up a direct debit to pay the full balance.

If it is cash back card it ought to say on the blurb. If in doubt, phone and ask.

For any items over £100 the card issuer has joint liability, so if something goes wrong (like reatailer goes bust) then you are covered.
I would say use it to build a good history but pay it off on time every month so you don't pay any interest.
