I have £62000 worth of debt and although I contacted CCCS last year for advice I still have to set up a DMP. I have creditors breathing down my neck. Egg have even taken me to court and got a charging order on our house. I am trying to get a new fixed rate on my mortgage to bring down my payments but Egg refuse to temporarily postpone their charge. Any way HFC have now taken me to court aswell so I going to contact CCCS today to take next step. OH is an alcoholic and my life is such a rollercoaster I always seem to have his problems to deal wih so cant deal with debts. Anyway I am rambling and not answering question.
I think the main reason for our debt was mismanegement of credit cards, alcoholic oh and the fact that in 2003 I had 4 eye operations and nearly went blind. I think I just gave up control of finances for a few months nad never got on top of it again.
That's quite a lot to take onboard.
How do you cope with it all?0 -

I live from day to day. OH spent 2 days in bed this week drinking and not eating because on of our friends dies of Cirosis of the liver. I told him 2 days ago that I was going to get the house tidied up and ready for sale as I have had enough and would you believe he is being really nice to me. However I am used to this see saw and am sure he will be drunk all weekend! Still my sister is away on holiday so I am going to stay at her house for a few days on my own. It makes me sad as I dont think I am a bad person and try all sorts of ways to make and save money ( thanks to MSE!) but it is never enough!!0 -

Ours was basic mismanagement etc etc
Severe depression for over 2 yrs and not being able to manage day to day tasks is what got me here. I started to recover in aug 07 and I ticked along doing little bits until dec 07 when I had my full on LBM. In dec I cut right back on things and did a weekly and monthly budget, but this month has seen me attack all debts, let them know where I am at, and that I am doing something. I was worried it would set me back, but its made me feel in control and Im feeling pretty recovered right now
