Getting Mercedes serviced in Europe

Hi, a couple of years back someone was telling me that they got their Mercedes car serviced in Belgium, I think, as it ends up costing a whole lot cheaper than in the UK.

The company may have been called something like Autostar Verne, but I can't find it on the internet. Does this rings any bells with anyone?

My dad has just been charged £900 for his last service and I'm sure he can get it done a whole lot cheaper!

No need to go abroad - just find a good independent.

Listen around -personal recommendation is the best way to find a good trustworthy garage.

I had a cam belt changed in Germany

UK Audi dealer wanted over a grand just to do the belt and associated bits. Germany dealer did all this plus a service for just under 1000 euros so about £700.

I was out there anyway for a couple of weeks and had access to another car, I’m not sure if it would be worth making a special trip even to France or Belgium.

You could go on one of the cheap day trips but then what happens if they need a part they haven’t got? That’s irritating enough if it happens in the UK but to have to unexpectedly arrange accommodation new ferry ticket etc could easily wipe out any savings and some.

Best idea, as someone else suggested, is find a good independent mechanic in the UK
