£500k Don't know what to do with it! Help

I have £500k i want to invest. I want to see results fairly fast. Not sure how stock and shares work? I Think that may be the best way. Quite interested in property though. Any advice will be appreciated.Many Thanks

How fast? How much of a drop in value in a bad year or week will you accept? How long can you hold on to the investments until their value recovers if you start out with a bad year?0

I assume this is an inheritance.
Do you want growth or regular steady income?
What other income do you have?
What are your goals, age, retirement plans, etc.0 -
ignoring the fact that based on that criteria there are about 30,000-50,000 different options and that doesnt include a trip to Las Vegas or betting on the 3.30 at Newmarket.
