i am wanting my 3 bed semi soundproofed from my noisy neighbour. its an average size house, want partition walls between mine and hers doing, thats a kitchen wall, lounge wall, my bedroom wall, and sons bedroom wall.
cheapest quote was from a local handy man, who has never done this type of job before, usually does painting and decorating. other company that i found on web wants £3000, which also includes replastering and putting the skirting boards back on
i think this sounds fairly reasonable, and this company only deals with soundproofing,so should be experianced, what do you guys think?
the company is called total accoustic solutions, has any body heard anything about them, good or bad?
cant do the work myself to save money., so that isnt an option

Hi shaz, theres a couple of methods you could use, 1st is apply 2 layers of soundbloc board made by gyproc,1st layer is dot n dab'd on the wall then another layer is applied and then 2 coats of multi or board finish. 2nd method (which is the one i recomend and conforms with building regs) is build a stud wall fill the wall with acoustic slab boards, then apply 2 layers of soundbloc board, and then 2 coats of multi or board finish. Where abouts are you as this can affect the price?

thanks jase, to be honest i just looked for soundproofing, never thought of plasterers, i shall have another look through the phone book tonight, and get some more quotes.
the company i was originally going to use but now having second thoughts about want money upfront, is this usual?
watched enough tv, to know that some companies rip people off, and i dont want to be one of those people, but have never had to get workmen in before for something as big as this, so i have no experiance
thanks
