my god airport car parking is a rip off.

anybody got any any pearls of wisdom? esp re heathrow.

I saw on a thread that it's cheaper to have a night in a hotel nearby and free car parking than to pay some of the airport parking charges.

Last year we found that a taxi to/from the airport was only 5 pounds more than the cheapest off-airport parking for a fortnight, and a lot less hasle. It was about half the price of parking at one of the on-airport car parks. Of course, the taxi charges depend on where you are coming from, but it is an option worth investigating.

On ebay there are auctions for car parking near airports. Often people will let you park in their drive and give you a lift to the airport. Never used it myself, but could be worth a look.

This year I used Tesco Clubcard and their '4x' deals offer - airport parking is one of the options. You need to start the booking process at least three weeks before you travel but last month I got a week's parking near Cardiff Airport for £9 of clubcard vouchers.
