Sowing wildflowers
Ages ago I remember seeing a programme about a guy who drove around and every now and then would chuck a handful of wet soil filled with wildflower seeds onto roundabouts or verges out of the window from his car. No idea how that figures ecologically but thought it was really fun and good.
So what's the best way of sowing wildflower seeds, I've got a long lane to my house as well as lots of space and would love little pockets of wildflowers around the place.
Have you done this?

When I've bought packets of wildflower seeds I've ended up with mostly grass so I tend to rely on what the birds drop but if you're thinking of somewhere other than your own garden then I'd get a packet and scatter them in some areas, on others try and dig a shallow trench to put them in. See which come up best.
A friend of mine is planting crocuses on the grass bank leading up to her house ..........she noticed them around the village where she lived and they were so pretty and well worth doing.
Good luck. Its a lovely ideaMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

He may have got his ideas from this:

Remember for your own garden that wild flowers don't grow in fertile soil
but your lane should be fine.
I'd mix them with sand and scatter thinly.
Some will grow this year some will need to go through winter and flower next year or even the year after.
Happy gardening
PS I love the crocus idea, one of my fav plants0 -

Bit In Bold - I didn't realise this. What's the best soil/conditions for growing wildflowers? (such as poppies, cornflower, daisies)0 -
Whatever you do don't plant daffodils or bluebells bulbs as domestic versions of daffodils and the Spanish bluebells are out competing wild versions.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0
