This is a lovely site to sell things on, but I don't know if they charge commission etc.

I used to make cards and it is pretty impossible to make any decent money from it. I just found that I couldn't charge for my labour because it would make the card too expensive.
Thanks for this link - there's some gorgeous stuff on here.:T:T:TSave me from spending...

Hi madge7, do you have anyone who could take a box of your cards to work/office and sell them there? You would probably find people wanting to order different cards too. I used to make cards to sell amd found the market too competitive - people seem more willing to pay £1 for a horrible card than a bit more money for a lovely one made by me! To be honest I gave in a bit too easily and I've since got more into making cards using cross-stitch over the last year and due to the time it takes to stitch only now stitch my own. There's definitely a market out there for good, original handmade cards so keep going and good luck! If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0

Hiya, I also looked into selling handmade cards on ebay but found they were only selling for about £2
once you take into consideration the time to make them, cost of the products,, listing fees, P&P.....you're sometimes at a loss
what you have to remember is cards are so cheap nowadays! You can go into the card factory and get a lovely handmade one for about £1.50....i look at them and wonder how they can charge so little as the embelishments must cost that!
Infact, I've been known to buy them in order to use the embelishments as it is cheaper than buying them from hobbycraft/craft fairs etc
I did stumble on this site
http://www.craftmarkets.co.uk/
its more or less an online market stall
there is a joining fee of £25 which i feel is a little steep, but everything after that is your own, no ebay listing fees, final sale fees etc
worth a look into if you're interested though
it also has a forum where all "stall" holders can chat and where customers ask for certain cards with certain lettering etc
Good luck with it!

Trouble with hand made cards are that people dont want to pay as much for them in comparison to a clintons card - regardless of time and effort put into it.
The only way i can see you making a profit, is if you created a personalised hand made card service, instead of here is a happy birthday card, take it or leave it.
You gotta research heavily hand made cards, what is selling and what is not, then try and find a niche that you can tap into.
Think of a card and try and put a new twist on it that isnt done by anyone else. Or a design that isnt like any other.
They are my ideas! When i was heavily into card making i did think of doing cards to sell but for the work and the return i decided not too.
good luck!0 -
