Hi
I recently started card making, have sold a few on ebay although was not massively successful as it seems there are tons and tons on there. Just wondered if anyone else does this and where they sell/how much for?
Thanks!

I used to make cards and sell them. I started by selling to friends and then to their friends. I got a lot of repeat sales. It was my hobby and I loved doing it but I was never going to make my fortune by selling cards. I gradually had to give up when I started working fulltime.0

I was thinking of doing this, but after alot of research i decided not to. The only place i could really sell them was on Ebay. After the of of the fees, the materials and with all of the competion i dont think there is much money to be had.
If the cards are quite unique and well made though, you could build up a good customer base...0 -
This is a lovely site to sell things on, but I don't know if they charge commission etc.

I used to make cards and it is pretty impossible to make any decent money from it. I just found that I couldn't charge for my labour because it would make the card too expensive.0 -
Can you sell via local outlets - local gift shops, school fairs etc. That way there might not be as much competition? The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0

thanks guys! i think the cards i've been making are a bit more contemporary and stylish than some i've seen on ebay. so am going to research local craft fairs to maybe sell there. a lot of people seem to do well from this kind of thing on ebay but i think you're right about not really being able to make enough money back to make it worthwhile on there.0

It's always worth going to local card outlets (especially one offs and gift shops) and ask if you can provide them some cards on a sale or return basis.....this could help to get you established and if they don't sell, the shop loses nothing and if they do you'll get repeat orders.Proud to be dealing with my debts:money:0

thanks - i think i just need to have the confidence to go into places like that. luckily where i live there are tons of shops like that so i might be lucky!0

I've been making and selling cards for the last two years and I have a shop on ebay where I do most of my sales, but it has been very quiet lately so I'm looking to move my shop elsewhere. The only other places you can really sell things like this is at local fairs eg schools. I've looked at bigger fairs but for the amount you pay for a stand it really doesn't seem worth it.0

does it cost to set up a shop on ebay? i sold a few on there, but was unsure whether to put on at a buy it now? what do you do? if you dont mind me asking how much do you put yours on there for? i just cant imagine that i am going to sell enough on there to make any money!
thanks
