4k best account

I have got 4k together and dont have any other acc apart from nationwide e saver ,any advice where to put this 4k or a bit more can tie up the 4k but anything else would have to be easy access,thinking of moving from N/W e acc,Also where do I go to invest it can I do it on line ,thanks.

    put the first 3K (this years allowence) of it into an ISA which lets you gain interest TAX-FREE. Open an Icesave ISA @ 6.1% and when april 6th comes up you can pay in the other 1K of your next years allowence

    Put £3k into a cash ISA now (Icesave at 6.1% or A&L at 6.25% for instance), open a high-interest saver for the rest, wait till April, then stick the other £1k into the ISA as well.
