We're with you all the way on this one! Families of 5 get ripped off far to regularly for my liking. Overseas holidays - agree completely. We book a year in advance and still struggle to find somewhere that will take us with confirmed interconnecting rooms, or 2/3 bed apartments. We had a 2 bed apartment, all inclusive in Lanzarote this year. Fab time except it cost us £2,200 for one week! Can't afford 2 weeks as it usually starts with a 3...... Next year we're booked for corfu: 2 bed "family" room. Hope OK. Many brochures say in small print "family rooms not necessarily larger than standard rooms"!! The cheek of it! It makes me sick and I won't be going abroad after next year. (Probably wouldn't be going at all if we hadn't already booked...)

Just wondered where you're going as we've booked for Corfu next year, Roda Beach Village, with a family room.

I would we quite happy to squeeze 3 kids in with us, the kids could have the double bed and we could push the singles together, but it isn't allowed (I only have 2, just making a point).

There is no way I would take my kids on holiday and put them in a separate room from us and I don't think we should be expected to.

We have book Corfu for next year, in a family room so no problem.
One thing I always do before booking is read reviews.

As for hotel rooms being for couples, why are a lot of holidays aimed at families?

cos families can be charged a dam site more........ so unfair :'(
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)
  • As i said before dont book a conventianal package deal look through brochures and desided where you want to go then tell your agent you want to do a hotel separate from your flight this was you will avoid the extra fees and save lots of money if you get a flight only with tour operator they can charge you extras as its kids not adults going then if you book hotel or apartments with someone else you dont get to pay under occupancy supliments and will get child reductions
Hope this makes more sence this time as last time i was misunderstood
    Trav :-*
