I too go through many tin openers, but for some reason cannot throw them away! I have a small collection in my drawer at home and even have one at work. I am sure this is "just in case" the new one give up the ghost as well..just as I want to open a tin of something yummy. (yes you can get yummy stuff in tins!) mind you, my new one is one ofthose that cuts the whole top off the tim and I am always cutting myself. I love the ring pulls!I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0

Tchibo safety tin-opener.£4.99 I bought one of these today in Somerfield (some of which are Tchibo outlets)
It's magic. I've not worked out how it works but it cuts such a fine line that it's hard to see where the lid has been divided from the tin. But that problem aside this tin opener has a little pliers gadget on the side which you can use to prise the top from the tin.
It's such a smooth cut, with the edges neatly turned that you could in fact use the top as a lid if you wanted to use only some of the contents and return the tin to the fridge.
Never been so impressed with a tinopener.
Was also impressed with the silicon stretch bowl/jug covers but that's a topic for another thread. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

I have a very old tin opener - its basically a sharp blade with no safety barriers at all. It works really well. We have gone through several other tin openers - both butterfly and the chunky easy to use ones, and they all have a very short life span.0
