  • When I looked into this, Tescos seemed to be pretty cheap
  • I get all my canvases from a guy from ebay. Sellers name Paul Coxx, he is reasonable, reliable and a very nice man. I have no connection to him, I just have been so happy with all the canvases he has done for me and I have no hesitation in recommending him.

  • Does anyone know what resolution photos have to be in order to get them put on a large canvas?

I was hoping to get a couple of pictures blown up to about 100cm x 75 cm but both Tesco and Asda say they can't do it. I have a 6 megapixel camera so i thought the resolution would be sufficient but apparently not. The biggest prints i can get are 60cm x 40cm.

    Any suggestions???

We had one of our honeymoon photos blown up to 114cm x 76cm by www.photobloc.co.uk They're not the cheapest but was fabulous quality. They have 10% off at the moment and they also offer 10% cashback through quidco. The photo I used was taken on my canon 4 megapixel camera.

  • Hi
In reply to resolution for printing, can I just point out that it is difficult to get it right from the info on your digital camera alone.

The best way is to save the picture on to your computer, open it with something like Photoshop (even the LE lite version should do).

In the drop down menu of IMAGE you will select SIZE and here you will see the current size of your file. Use the boxes provided to convert to 300dpi instead of the 72 dpi used for screen viewing. Also convert the dimension in cm to the size you want and watch the file size multiply in size. At this point it is possibly too large to send by e-mail attachment, so do a SAVE AS and save your new file as a Photoshop pdf document. This document is much smaller but retains enough imformation to go to print.

There's a little more to it for fine art or high quality needs, but this exercise covers the basics of getting a decent quality print at a larger size.

    Hope this helps.
