MBNA master card

I had one of these, paid up and closed in March 2007.

Friday had a bill for a subscription paid from that card for my caravan club subs.

They say they have to legally pay the bill when requested even though card is cancelled. Is this correct? Does anyone know please?

Also, worryingly the card has £9600 credit available according to the statemnet sent on friday.

How can the account be closed yet they can pay out subs when requested?

Could be a continuing credit authority. Check this out:

thanks for that info, I have canceld the CC with the Caravan club and I don't think I have any more on that card, but I will check, thanks.

What I can't understand is why if I closed the account does it still show £9600 available credit on the stement?

Guess account not fully closed. Ask the credit card company to give you written confirmation that the account is closed and hold onto the letter.
