Ikea

Wanted to buy 2 sofas from Nottingham branch. Rang up day before and told 5 in stock. Turned up when store opened and staff on sofa section confirmed availability. Got to checkout and none in stock at all!! After discussion with customer services, they admitted making mistake and arranged for free delivery. They phoned next day to take payment and confirm delivery would take place Sunday. Guess what? Phone call early Sunday to state that they had made another error and items still not in stock. At the end of my tether and would cancel order if not also spent £200 on covers.
Buyer beware!!!

ive found 'in stock' doesnt always equal 'available to take now'. when it happened to me the stock was up on the top of the section and they only bring things down after hours due to safety. happened to me twice. the 3rd time i trekked there again they had taken it down :D

try see if u can get free delivery out of em for the mix up.

He has already been given free delivery.

The above scenario is not relevant to the Nottingham store, as the larger items are in a separate warehouse, and customers are not allowed in the storage area.

I'm sure if you ask nicely they'll give you vouchers for your next shop ... x

Ikea computer system and their staff aren't always the most helpful/knowledgable! We were going to get some flooring from them, and they informed us there was always lots in stock, and if it wasn't on the shop floor, they could go get it from the store with a forklift truck.

So a couple of days later we hired a van, drove an hour to get there, and when there wasn't enough out (we needed 24 packs, and they only had 10 out), we asked them if they'd get some more as they'd already been told they were instock. That's when they told us they only got them out at the end of the day, as they weren't allowed to use ForkLiftTrucks with customers around. We said we'd wait, but then they said they couldn't sell them to us after hours, so would have to come back another day. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

I recognised the women who told us they'd go restock the shelves when there wasn't enough, so asked her why she'd told her this when it wasn't true, which she obviously tried to deny whilst looking very shifty and awkward.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • To be fair to Ikea they do state they are a "Cash & Carry" business. That's why you cannot reserve stock online.

Yes it's infuriating as it's happened to me too but I do accept their intention is for customers to come to the store and see whats available on the day.
