Searched my report without consent

I recently noticed that Capquest have twice run a search on my file without my consent. I didn't even know who they were & after calling them it relates to mistaken identity - I received a letter back in Nov asking me to confirm a previous address for whomever they were chasing a catalogue debt. After a long drawn out call they apologised but surely they shouldnt be searchin my file without my consent. I'm trying really hard to keep my report as clean as can be - will 3 searches by a debt recovery company affect me?

Contact the credit file company and ask for the searches to be removed - they will check with capquest who should confirm that the searches were incorrect and they will be removed off your records.
Searches only really damage you in as far as if you have too many in a period then it temporarily lowers your score. Who made them doesn't really matter. I would get them removed tho
