Help with Derbyshire building society account

Hi, a friend of mine is trying to get a large amount of money a company is paying her, paid into a basic bank account with Derbyshire building society. However the building society have refused the payment and told my friend she must take a cheque in instead.

My friend is in a hurry to access some of this money, and is annoyed that the derbyshire can't tell her why they won't accept the money into her account straight from this other company.

If she takes a cheque in, can she pay to have it cleared quicker than the 8 days they normally take ??

If it's a current account (and not a savings account) it should only take 4 working days to clear the cheque :-

..........but, no ...... there is no way to pay to expedite a cheque through Clearing. Some Bank staff will, unfortunately, suggest 'special presentation' ....but that only tells you if the cheque will be funded on presentation, it doesn't get you the money any quicker.
