My3 account on an apple mac?

Hi, we live in an area where we cannot get broadband via a phone line so had to resort to a 3mobile internet dongle which is fine and works great with the intel mac but I discovered after recieving a large bill I can view my account online, great I thought.
However after a few calls to their 'technical' department they explained that to logg into my account I needed to get a password which had been sent to the sim card in the dongle.
The three ways of doing this are puting the sim card into a 3mobile phone, which I dont have, going into a 3mobile store and getting them to put the sim into a phone, this I have done twice but none of the passwords extracted from the sim have worked, or lastly connecting the dongle to a PC, which again I dont have, nor do I know anyone with one locally with one however strange this may seem.
Their suggestions (those I can understand as the call centre is in mumbi) included purchasing either a 3 mobile or a PC!!!!!! One person claimed I could access my account by putting the last six numbers of the sim in instead of a password but this didnt work.
Anyone got any suggestions?

I can see I am going to have to face this problem. Not for me but for a friend as I set his 3 dongle up for him on his intel mac.
Did you have the problem of not receiving the CD with the drivers on? What a malarcky that was!!0 -
You are aware that in the 3 dongle control applet, theres a message center that allows you to send, receive and view SMS messages?0

There is also a free application called BitPim which may help lets you view the contents of phones and their sims when connected via data cable may work with your MY3 modem0

I had the same problem. On the mac version of the ZTE modem software there isn't a message centre" option (not sure about the original modem). I had to plug the modem into a PC to get the password.
I'm slightly concerned at this because unless I regularly plug it into a PC (or a 3 phone) I won't know if I've received any messages from 3. Do they text you if you're close to your download limit? I'll have to make sure I regularly check on the my3 site.0 -
You could do what I did with my "3" dongle on Linux and that's to use the Vodafone Connect drivers. The only change it needed was to create a custom profile and put "three" in both user/pass and "three.co.uk" in the APN box.0

hi geekgirl, yes I had a big problem getting the drivers, couldn't even download them from their site!
and I dont think they alert you when you go over your download limit they just let it go on and on, as they profit from it!
will look into the other suggestions, thanks hugely guys!0 -
update, after another call to 3 about something else apparently they do send texts when you approach your download limit but as I cant get to the texts its no good to me!
tried bitpim but couldnt get it to work but thanks for the suggestion. will have to hope 3 develop some mac message centre software soon, wont hold my breath though!0 -
You could go to eBay and buy a 3 mobile for a couple of quid, or you could also install Windows XP SP2 or Vista on a partition on your mac and plug the dongle in, if you have OSX.5 (Leopard).

thanks, yes I run Leopard but I don't do Windows, not my thing, a bit like "3" dont do Apple! Worked and owned macs for over a dozen years so couldn't face trying.0
