Home Assist - any experience?

I'm looking at buying a new build property, but know that it will be difficult to shift my older house. The building company offer a 'Home Assist' package which looks really helpful, but i'm sure there must be catches. I wondered if anyone has any experience of this type of deal - good or bad - which they could share before I decide whether to go ahead or not.
Basically they agree to sell my house for me (within a specific timescale), so that I do not pay any estate agent's fees or HIP fees, and I can reserve the house of my choice.
Has anyone any experience of these deals?

Check exactly what you may or may not be getting. One of the national builders advertises no estate agents fees with their packages, they actually mean they will pay the EA's fees, upto £2k. The amount varies depending on the cost of the property being sold. It comes as a shock to both the EA & the people selling the property that the full fee isn't covered. If you decide to use the 'Home Assist' package, check on what happens to the HIP if you later change your mind & sell the property but don't buy the new build.0
