Stupid underfloor heating Q - vinyl flooring...

Hi All!

Having second thoughts about floor tiles in bathroom - thinking vinyl instead. Looking at too many tiles & matching up & long term, mayne vinyl would be more sensible & easier/cheaper to change.

We've already got the wiring kit in place - it'll go within the latex levelling compound - but will we see bumps appear in vinyl, when thinkgs get hotter/temperature change. I lknow when I layed vinyl in our last house (not as easy as I thought) it wasn't down well enough to stay flat.

Dont want similar thing this time, as the bathroom is 2,5 x 4mts, so would show the problem pretty clearly!!

Thanks in advance!!

VB

My advice would be to get a good carpet fitter to fit your vinyl for you, may not be the cheapest way to do it but if a pro fits it properly then you shouldn't ever have any bumps (at least I've never had any problems).

The vinyl should be in the house prior to fitting and the house nice and warm so the vinyl is softer.

Totally agree - there's no way I'd try that 'simple' job again!!

  • We would recommend the heating under Travertine tiles its lovely on the toes, if all else fails you can perhaps go up through the downstairs ceiling in the event of problems. Good Luck
Freebie Manor was the name on the Plaque my mum gave me for first home which was equiped with freebie banded cups, teapot, coffee pot oh and a sofa which cost a bottle of Vodka. My motto's are don't ask dont get, and don't buy if they say no.
  • i wouldnt recomend loose laying the vinyl it will NEED to be fully adhered to the subfloor but you will need the floor leveling first wilth the heating pad under the screed that way the vinyl will not sretch due to the heat of your floor.
