Hi,
I am looking for a London Hotel close to Aldwych Theatre on 26th July 08. I would quite like somewhere that is half decent.
Where is the best place to look for deals? Or can anyone recommend anywhere that is good value?
Any help would be apprecated.
Thanks

Absolute nearest one is the Waldorf Hilton, next door to the theatre. It's nice but coming up at £159 on www.hilton.com
There is another hotel, One Aldwych, which is on the opposite side of Aldwych. Don't know about prices for that one.0 -
The Strand Palace Hotel is very close to The Aldwych. Also there is a Thistle Hotel at Charing Cross Station - about 10 mins walk from The Aldwych. A little further away but fine if you are mobile is The Premier Lodge in Southwark (SE1). From the Aldwych to there is basically a walk over Waterloo Bridge (very pretty views at night) and then turn left (east) and walk along the South Bank of the river Thames up to the Globe Theatre.
The Aldwych Theatre is a stone's throw from Covent Garden and Holborn so include them in any searchs you do. Also, Leicester Square is not far from the area at all and I think there is a Thistle at the bottom of there.Yeah, whatever. I'm a grown up, I can take it...0 -
Hello
How many nights for? and how many adults/children? www.laterooms.com is good place to start, as you can put in the theatre postcode (WC2B 4DF) and then order the hotels by distance from the theatre.
Do u have an ideal budget, or class of hotel in mind? Charing Cross thistle is good, or No 1 aldwych (although pricey)0 -

Hi - just wanted to second the suggestion of staying at the Thistle Charing Cross. My and other half stayed there in December whilst in London to see LOTR at Drury Lane. Fantastic hotel with fab location - easy walking distance to all theatres and practically oppostie Nelsons column. Fantastic.
Breakfast was amazing too. Think we paid about £110 for it but it was worth it. Booked via cityhotelsdirect for double room with breakfast included - Quidco pays cashback too I seem to recall.
Hope you have a fab time.

2 adults - no children.
I'll check out the Thistle.
A problem I have found is that we're seeing a matinee at 3pm and lots of the hotels have 2pm earliest check-in time which doesnt give us much time to get changed etc. I called a couple and they said that they couldnt guarantee we'd be able to get into the room earlier because it was a saturday.
Price - not sure - I wanted somewhere decent really - pref 4 star as its a suprise birthday present. So as cheap as I can get a 4 star!!0 -

A bit from left field but bear with me here: if you can check in early and leave your stuff in the luggage room at which ever hotel you get, the loos at Charing Cross Station are very good, clean, spacious and have very good make up mirrors etc. At least the Ladies ones do! Many a time have I ducked in there to change my outfit and put my slap on for a night out.Yeah, whatever. I'm a grown up, I can take it...0 -
Ha ha - I like it. Maybe I dont need a hotel at all! Lol.
Thats def a good suggestion thanks - I'll take that into consideration! See thats something I never would have known!0 -
I would try to check in after 12, they will have some rooms available and depending on how helpful staff are will try to oblige if they can. Most hotels will let you leave your luggage prior to check-in, even if they can't get you in the room, and you could always do as ali says and change in their loos!
In fact, some Travelodges now offer early check in for a tenner - the nearest to you I think is Covent Garden.0 -
I have just got a good deal for The Hilton Euston (4*100m from Euston Station) using lastminute.com. £73 for a twin room and breakfast on Good Friday night. It is only just over a mile to Aldwych theatre, which is ideal for us going to see Dirty Dancing the next afternoon! The hotel has got reasonable reviews on Tripadvisor too.
Oh and 10% quidco cashback as well0 -
