What savings account?

I recently tried to open a HiSave account with ICICI and quite frankly I couldn't have had more things go wrong, they were awful! In a nutshell they told me that they hadn't received my opening cheque and asked me to send another one. I sent another one, meantime they had banked my first one, and as it had been cancelled they closed my account and returned my second cheque!
Their customer services were atrocious. 9 calls made and still no resolution. I want a simple online savings account with a good rate of interest but a good history of customer services, any ideas?
Thanks

I had trouble with ICICI, I then opened a Icesave account - no problems.0

I have had no trouble with Northern Rock or Bradford and Bingley. Both easy to open and operate.,plus decent rates of interest.0

Landsbanki (owners of icesave) have been around since 1886 and I'm sure they'll be around for a long while yet! It's also worth pointing out that they have no direct or indirect exposure to the US sub-prime mortgage market or structured credit obligations.
This recent article puts things into perspective..

And this page from icesave website says it all....

I have a substantial sum with icesave, and I sleep very well at night!

You're welcome! There's a lot of scaremongering going on at the moment, and it's getting out of hand. Personally I'd be more worried about my savings being in certain UK banks at present! I congratulate banks like icesave for keeping the UK ones on their toes - Competition is great news for all UK savers. No doubt someone will reply to this with a negative view, all I say is talk to the hand!:D The fact that I'm getting a great service with icesave, and a decent return on my money is good enough for me!;)0 -

Icelandic banks like Icesave aren't linked to the American Sub prime market so your going to be quids in. As long as we have all got some money in them they'll stay open, longer than most the UK banks too.8,000 / 10,000 saved. Another 2,000 by April 2011!0 -
Thanks for your help guys. I have applied for an IceSave account. It was so much easier than ICICI. :T0
