Egg - Blue card offer

Last year I took out a blue egg card (I already have a green one) to use to transfer a balance from another card. When the 6 months 0% was up, I then transferred the balance to another card. I then cancelled and closed the blue card. This was in April this year. When I go into the egg website, details of my blue card are still there, but I have been assured by Egg on 3 separate occasions that the account no longer exists.

This month I received 2 e-mails saying:- You're one of our best customers – in fact, you could say you're the pick of the bunch. And to say thank you for making such good use of your green Egg Card, we'd like to invite you to apply for a blue Egg Card – with its lovely 0% deal.

So I clicked on the apply button, and guess what! Apparently I already have a blue egg card!!!

This is sooooo frustrating! Any ideas anyone?!

Thanx stax!
Freddie.

A similar thing happened to me after canx EGG green - I won't be canx the green card again now ;). Give them a call and they will remove the link. Then you can apply again as a new customer.

    Thanks smartsaver.
I just called Egg and was given the same waffle and assurances that it did not exist, even tho I could see it on the website. She also told me the e-mail I'd received was generic - even tho it was addressed to me personally, to my personal e-mail account, referring to the fact that I was a good egg customer!
I eventually spoke to a supervisor who told me that the e-mails sent out were not generic and I must have received the e-mail by mistake. Then he said they could remove my blue card off the website but it would take 4 weeks!
So I phoned their customer relations dept - (luckily an 800 number!). Half an our of discussions later and the bottom line was it is impossible to take it off the website, and it will take 3 months to show closed on my credit history.

I then went back into the site to check on my green card, and guess what! The blue card had gone!!!

A lot of words come to mind... like liars and incompetant!

I've previously searched https://www.saynoto0870.com for an 0800 number for Egg and couldn't find one. Could you let us know which number you dialled please?

This thread reminded me about my Barclaycard which I closed months ago. Lo and behold I could still gain access to the account details on the website. You can just picture the scenario where you cancel a credit card, and several months later, after being assured the account is closed, you move away. Someone then gets access somehow to the account number online. Of course new statements would go to your old address. Once an account has been assured as closed do you still need to inform these idiots of where you live?

Thanks Freddie, I've passed it on to https://www.saynoto0870.com and they say it'll be posted when verified. It does work though, I've just used it. ;)

The account is closed but is still on the CC company's system in case of late charges or recurring credit agreements such as annual subs that you might have forgotten about.

I have recently closed MBNA and Amex cards, have received written confirmation to that effect, but can still access the accounts on-line.

I'd accept that if it hadn't been closed for 3 months! There weren't any late charges or subs and they'd know that by now. And surely any charge attempted on a closed account should simply be denied.

Out of interest, since you closed those accounts, have you tried to apply for another card?
