I've used nail polish remover when this has happened to me, admittedly I don't smell very nice afterwards but it's always worked so far !!
  • I tend to use a combination of things. Start off with a vaseline barrier and wipe off drips as I go with cotton wool pads soaked in milk. Once I've rinsed the dye out if my skin is still stained then the only thing I find that really works is clearasil ultra deep pore treatment pads. Not exactly OS I'm afraid, but I use a blue/black dye and it's either the clearasil or walk round looking like a smurf!

I'm guessing it's the combination of hydrogen peroxide and milk protein in the clearasil that works. I've tried everything else I can think of, right down to some specialist chemicals designed for removing professional make up/facial appliances etc (not to be recommended unless you're a professional make up artist) and even they don't do the job as well.

Ta for all your replies. I do use vaseline around the hairline but still manage to get it over my face! I'll give anything a go so will try out some of your suggestions next time I need to do it.....which these days don't seem long before the grey starts to poke through!!!

As does shampoo. This got the purple all over my face a couple of years ago off really well!

Hi, if you make sure you emulsify the hair dye (add a tiny amount of water) and then rub all around your hairline, before adding more water to rinse, you shouldn't get this problem. If you are talking about splashes on your skin, rinse immediately, or use a bit of shampoo.

I'm now a lovely redhead but I've also got a lovely red neck and hairline. Any suggestions as to how to get rid of the dye apart from scrubbing with soap???
    Thanks

    Hi Cazz

Congrats on the hair :D Sounds lovely!

Much to my surprise, there is an older thread - hair dye on skin so have a read and see if you can find any useful ideas in there

I'll merge this later on for you

    thanks:)
