Hi
I have bought a new shower to replace my old and tired one but.... do I call an electrician or a plumber to fit it?
Once I know who to call, how do I know a good one from a bad one?
I don't know where to begin so your comments will be very welcome.
Thanks in advance.

For an electric shower you need an electrician & hopefully he will run a cold water pipe for you as well, to save getting a plumber in.
We had to get both, but we were doing a new bathroom, so needed a plumber anyway.
The electrician did the electrics bit.0 -
ask family and friends for recommended electricians. dont just pick one at random.Get some gorm.0

Oh no it gets worse.
Just unpacked new shower to take a look (replacing a Mira sport 8.5Kw with a Mira Go 8.5Kw and stupidly thought it would be unlip then reclip) and the water inlet is in a different place on both. The old one has an inlet at the top left of the shower box and the new one is bottom left.
This doesn't sound cheap!0 -

can you not place the new box higher up the wall? then you only need 2 elbows to fit the inlet pipe.
re recommendations. ask workmates and the neighbours too.Get some gorm.0 -
Good afternoon: Use a plumber who has electrical qualifications. Enter your postcode on the CORGI site i.e. www.trustcorgi.com ..this will generate a list of CORGIs with the ability to complete and certify the installation. My OH has these qualifications....please note not all CORGIs have served a plumbing apprenticeship. To find a competent plumber try the Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering website http://www.iphe.org.uk/consumer/index.html

I have replaced like for like in Kw but the 8.5Kw sport is now discontinued and they said to go for this one and guess what - you were right about the swivel bit. I have just unpacked it again and checked and it swivelled no problem.use a electrician, to save costs on re plumbing try and get a shower with the same water inlet position, please note a "like for Like" shower replacement will avoid the existing electricity sytem haveing to be checked and upgraded, if you can find the same shower it's a simple job. try ringing the originals manufacturers and they will tell you which one is a direct replacement!!
So so pleased.
Now off to check out fitters.0 -
