Prepayment gas meter.

I recently had a new gas meter fitted as the old one kept displaying low battery.

Since this meter was fitted a few weeks ago i have constantly been going into emergency gas and using any gas i put on very quickly.

I went into emergancy and went straight to shop and put on £6 to take me out of emergency and so i could keep an eye on how quickly it was going.

When i put the card in it read that there was now £1.80 on meter with emer credit used. I thought this was odd so i waited a 20 mins and rechecked assuming that it would have sorted itself out. Not only had it not sorted it was saying that in those 20mins i managed to use 46p.
I know this doesn't sound like a lot but i only use gas for my central heating and to me this seems expensive.

I am not sure if this is normal so i thought that i would ask on here and see if anyone else is having similar problems.

46p would be about 1 unit (metric), so it would be a lot to use.
How is the meter set up - do you have a standing charge on it?

1st things second, check screens 00, 01, 02, 03 - these will tell you what happened to the £6.
If you 'borrowed' £5, the meter would only be able to take 70% of the £6 (£4.20), which is why the EC is still used, and you got £1.80 credit.
If you buy another £2 you will have the EC available again.
