Help - How to apply for credit card when you don't have a landline?

Help - I'm off to New Zealand shortly and wanted to apply for a virgin credit card. However when I tried on their website I found that the home telephone number was a mandatory field. I'm a home owner/buyer but do not have a telephone line - just use my mobile! Has anybody got any ideas how I can get around this?

Have you tried entering your mobile number in this field? It may not be able to differentiate between a landline and a mobile number - as they both have 11 digits.0

This should work - a mate of mine has done this; after all, some people just don't have a land line these days.0

So if no landline, how are you connecting to the internet?
I believe if you look at the Nationwide CC it is better for international travel due to lower fees or no fees even.0 -

Perhaps mobile internet?0 -
If it's a mandatory field, and you don't have a home phone, then you can't have the card. Lenders are entitled to set their own criteria, if Virgin have decided they won't offer a card to someone who doesn't have a home phone then that's their decision, if you choose not to have a home phone then you need to choose another lender.0

I didn't have a landline for years until recently yet have still managed to get 4 credit cards.
Two options, either enter a false landline number (i've never known anyone actually ring me to check) or enter your work or mobile number if it allows.

Well spotted! I actually don't have access to the internet at my home address. Do all my surfing in work - now! - and at my parents. I am in the process of selling my property and hence do not want the cost of installing a line and signing to an ISP for what could be a short duration.
I'm also aware of Nationwide credit card being better suited for my requirements and already have one which I pay off in full every month. The reason for the Virgin credit card is to be able to do a super balance transfer to top up my Nationwide Flex account which pays my Nationwide credit card. From what I've read on this site I believe I can pay a cheque from the Virgin Credit card in to my account giving me 0% for 15 months.
I'll try entering my mobile number and see what happens.
Thanks for all the replies. If I was rich I wouldn't care about money. Think I should be rich because I don't care about money now! :beer:0 -
